Fall 2021 watchlist

If you’re like me, then you’ve been counting down the days until fall starts. Here’s a list of some great movies to get you in the mood for all the warm and cozy autumn vibes. Grab your friends, some fluffy blankets, a cup of apple cider and settle in for an amazing movie jam-packed with all the fall feels.

1. Fantastic Mr. Fox

  • If you dream of living inside a huge cozy old tree with your family and friends, then this one’s for you. The colour scheme is gorgeous, and it has amazing animation and music. It might even inspire you to make Mrs. Bean’s famous apple snaps.

2. When Harry Met Sally

  • Who doesn’t love a good rom-com in the fall? When Harry Met Sally is one of the best rom-coms of all time (no one can tell me otherwise). The fall scenery, fashion, and New York setting will make you feel all warm and cozy.

3. All of the Harry Potter movies

  • I really don’t have to explain this one. Magic. Drama. Hogwarts. The Burrow. Draco. Halloween vibes. Go have a HP marathon right now - I know you want to!

4. It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

  • You will never be too old for Charlie Brown movies. They are so cute and the nostalgia is real.

5. Kiki’s Delivery Service

  • Some people say that Kiki’s Delivery Service is a summer movie, but I disagree. It’s a perfect late September movie. Watch it when the leaves start to change and sweater weather is upon us, but it’s still warm enough to sit outside and enjoy the sun. The animation in this film is beautiful, and the brick-lined streets, colourful houses, and magic will definitely get you in the fall mood.

6. The Twilight Saga

  • I know they’re bad, but are they really? The rainy town of Forks is a perfect fall setting, and the soundtrack is great for wandering around and contemplating whether you’re team Jacob or team Edward.

7. The Nightmare Before Christmas

  • Some people watch this at Christmas and some people watch it at Halloween. I am personally a Halloween watcher, because the spookiness and fall feels are all there. It will get you in the mood for a scary Halloween, and maybe even inspire your next Halloween costume!

8. Spirited Away

  • This film is a perfect mix of spooky, adventurous, dramatic, and funny. The animation is amazing and the early autumn scenery is beautifully done. This movie never disappoints.

9. Little Women

  • Even though much of this movie is set in the winter, the coziness is there. Little Women is a beautiful film about family, love, and self-discovery, and it’s perfect for a chilly fall evening.

10. Knives Out

  • If you love a good murder mystery this film is for you. Set in the late fall, this film is packed with plot twists, mystery, and autumn vibes.

Some other notable mentions include the classics like Halloweentown, Hocus Pocus, and Witches. I hope you can knock a few of these movies off your list this fall, because take it from me, they neverdisappoint. Happy fall and happy watching!
